The planning of our trip officially begins on a Wednesday evening of August at a bar in Mestre. It is hot, but we decide to sit outside anyway. F..k air conditioning!!!
No time lost. Luca and I immediately begin to talk about USA.
The task of the day is to define the first draft of our trip, so I take from my shoulder bag the map of the United States that I downloaded few hours before from the Internet. At first glance, the States do not seem so big, but this feeling does not last long. We want to visit thousands of places and to see as many things ... and we must do it in just over a month.
We had already decided the period of our trip, which will be between late April and early June 2013. We still decide to assign to ourselves the task to define more precise dates. I think it will be the agenda of the next meeting.
We quickly agree on the travel directio: West - East, Los Angeles - New York. It 's decided then! Like many, I always wanted to see New York, especially Manhattan and I am initially inclined to visit it as soon as possible. However, the wisdom of Luca enters into play and it makes me change my mind soon. It 's better to keep the Big Apple as the final surprise, isn't it? We have also identified two other strong arguments in favor of this thesis:
Number 1. After more than a month of "on the road" travelling, flying back home from New York will certainly be less stressful than doing it from Los Angeles.
Number 2. We will start our trip from the south and we will progressively move towards the north. In this way, we hope to find a good and mild weather during our entire trip.
It remains to define the most important thing, the route. Fortunately, we find out that we have a very similar idea very about the path we want to follow. We will cover about 10,500 km across 21 American states. You can look at the first draft of our trip at the end of the post.
At the end of the evening there was scent of success and french fries in the air! We definitely ordered way too many of them!
La programmazione del nostro viaggio inizia ufficialmente un mercoledì sera di Agosto in un bar di Mestre. Fa caldo, ma decidiamo di sederci lo stesso all'aria aperta. F..k air conditioning!
Non si perde tempo. Io e Luca iniziamo subito a parlare di USA.
Il compito della giornata è quello di definire la prima bozza del nostro viaggio così prendo dalla mia borsa a tracolla la mappa degli Stati Uniti che avevo scaricato poche ore prima da Internet. A prima vista gli States non ci sembrano così grandi, ma l'impressione dura poco. Vogliamo visitare mille posti e vedere mille cose...e dobbiamo riuscirci in poco più di un mese.
Avevamo già deciso a grandi line il periodo, che sarà tra fine Aprile e inizio Giugno 2013. Ci assegnamo comunque il compito di iniziare a definire delle date più precise. Penso sarà l'ordine del giorno del prossimo incontro.
Siamo subito d'accordo sul verso di percorrenza: Ovest - Est, Los Angeles - New York. E' deciso! Come molti, ho sempre desiderato vedere New York, soprattutto Manhattan e sono inizialmente tentato di visitarla il prima possibile. Entra però in gioco la saggezza di Luca che mi fa presto cambiare idea. E' meglio serbare la Grande Mela come sorpresa finale no?. Inoltre abbiamo individuato altre due valide argomentazioni a favore di questa tesi:
Numero 1. Dopo più di un mese di viaggio "on the road" partire da New York per tornare a Venezia sarà sicuramente meno stressante che farlo da Los Angeles.
Numero 2. Partiremo da Sud per spostarci progressivamente verso Nord. In questo modo speriamo di incontrare buone temperature durante tutto il nostro viaggio.
Resta da definire la cosa più importante, ossia l'itinerario. Fortunatamente scopriamo di avere un'idea molto simile a riguardo il percorso da seguire. Copriremo circa 10.500 km attraverso 21 stati Americani. Potete guardare la prima bozza del nostro viaggio al termine del post.
A fine serata c'è profumo di vittoria e di patatine fritte nell'aria! Ne abbiamo ordinate decisamente troppe!
